Contemporary artists from around the globe have come to London to show their creative talents in the innovative field of Kinetic Art.

SCRIPT

Kinetic  art is art based around movement, using computers, sound and light – and even time.

Bringing sound and digital light together is the stunning Ocean of Light by the British art group Squidsoup. It explores how a space can be filled with erratic patterns of light which interact with sounds to build a powerful visual presence

INTERVIEW Ghislaine Boddington, Futurologist

In terms of visual arts and new technologies, yes, I think we’re just seeing the tip of the iceberg. In a sense, we’re in a  research patch which is, as all research happens takes 30 or 40 years , and many of the artists here today at the Kinetica Art fair are the pioneer researchers in the field working with the new technologies literally  as they are occurring in the marketplace

Holographic art is becoming ever more popular- it is beautiful but also fun and still surprising..... These are artists who are pushing the boundaries of many different disciplines

Perhaps  one of the simplest ideas can create complex and beautiful results - here the designer simply traces a 3Dimensional figure and provides a 2Dimensional picture....
A work of art in both execution and result....

Some displays are purely interactive - here is Robin McGinley's Hydro Acoustic Big Bang filter

INTERVIEW Robin McGinley,Artist

The thinking behind it is to create a large scale musical instrument which allows the audience member to play the sound of the Big Bang.

Mechanics and computers are also being combined to provide fascinating possibilities - this piece from Hungary questions our perception of movement....

......And this from students in London celebrates the Olympics - using the athlete's heartbeat to change the image...

The haunting light that digital images can create is perfectly displayed here by Roseline de Thelin's Family -ghosts created from simple fibre optic cable

No contemporary art exhibition is complete without its signature piece - butterflies fill 88 tiny screens - all different images fed at different times by the same computer..a concept we will be seeing a lot more of in the future.......
